Description manikantannaren 2012-12-18 03:14:59 UTC
[ BUILD # : 201212140001 ]
[ JDK VERSION : 1.7.0_09 ]

Test specification http://wiki.netbeans.org/TS_65_OptionsDialog

The browser test spec says that the drop down of Browser options should show
only the browsers installed on the machine. Where as I can see the contrary. I
can assure you that I have only Firefox on the box.

I double checked with a clean user and cache directory too.

Not sure if this needs to be fixed in the options dialog or in extbrowser module.
Comment 4 Theofanis Oikonomou 2012-12-18 11:52:52 UTC
The checkbox with available browsers is populated by HtmlBrowser.getTags (o.n.core). AFAICT no filtering is done in GeneralOptionsPanel (core.ui). I am not sure if this is the intended functionality. re-assigning for evaluation. Thank you

@vriha: Láďo, could you please have a look at it? Is the test specification correct? Looking into the code for e.g. Chrome, there is some detection done but only for Windows and not for other systems. I can imagine that NetBeans will always show a "standard" list of browsers as well as that we will filter it (and show only installed browsers).

Thanks.

The specification seems to be fairly old and I don't know if this ever worked. As far as I remember it looks the same. I think that it detects also IE on Windows and I guess Safari on Mac.

I would consider it to be maybe P4 or wontfix and update the test specification. There is no harm if there are browsers not installed on your system and if you try to use them, there is a dialog saying "cannot execute external browser, please check your configuration" so you know what to do.
