The editor supports more or less shortcuts based on mousewheel events. Shortcuts can be assigned to editor-based actions, but cannot be used outside the editor.

Consider supporting mouse-based 'shortcuts' in general. i.e. alt-click or shift-right-click on an item in the explorer could be mapped to an action for the pointed item.
