Description cmckessar 2012-06-30 11:35:45 UTC
Hi,

It would be great to have a better way to organize project groups.

I currently use the Netbeans IDE and I love it. I really like using groups because it allows me to retain my open projects in a particular state and easily toggle between projects. Initially I grouped multiple projects together within the same group but found that I would often edit the wrong file as I had multiple projects open and it was hard to switch between projects.

My solution was to only have 1 project per group which I have found works well. However my list of project groups has become way to long and disorganized in the list menu. It would be great if the group menu had the option to create a sub menu. Eg below 'New Group...' you could have new menu called 'Create sub menu...'. You could then under preferences assign the group to a sub menu or group menu.

Eg
2011 projects
- Project Group A
- Project Group B

2012 projects
- Project Group C
- Project Group D

Thanks for your consideration.

I think this would be a useful feature as well as I would also (for a different reason) like to have Groups of Groups so I could store different versions of a set of projects based around their Work activity and SVN Version Number.

Bug Fix A (SVN 27)
- Project Group A
- Project Group B

Change Request B (SVN 28)
- Project Group A
- Project Group B

why would you have 2 or more project groups per single bug fix? even if the sources come from multiple version control repositories, it makes more sense to have just 1 group with all related projects..

This old bug may not be relevant anymore. If you can still reproduce it in 8.2 development builds please reopen this issue.
