Description rlilly 2011-09-15 22:44:39 UTC
Product Version = NetBeans IDE 7.0.1 (Build 201107282000)
Operating System = Windows 7 version 6.1 running on x86
Java; VM; Vendor = 1.7.0
Runtime = Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM 21.0-b17

NetBeans will load fine if I delete the .netbeans folder, but I get the above error message up restart after it has been re-created. I've tried modifying the -J-XX:PermSize parameter in the netbeans.conf file as suggested in similar bug reports, but it doesn't help. I've changed it from 32m to 384m to 200m and many other setting, but none work.

I uninstalled both NetBeans and Java. Then I re-installed Java, making sure that I used the 64-bit version since I'm using the 64-bit version of Windows 7. Then I re-installed NetBeans. Everything seems to be working fine now, even after updating NetBeans, activating features, and installing several plug-ins. I don't know why, but NetBeans doesn't seem to like utilizing the 32-bit version of Java on a 64-bit Windows 7 platform.
