I was about to create an EJB and selected Remote interface. NB7 reported an
issue that there's no project to store it within. I can't understand it - from
EJB- and nb7-side. It'd be way better if the necessary project was created on
its own. See the screenshot.

I think the message in quite explanatory.

It seems to me you are actually requesting an enhancement.

This old bug may not be relevant anymore. If you can still reproduce it in 8.2 development builds please reopen this issue.
