Description esmithbss 2010-11-17 18:12:12 UTC
Product Version = NetBeans IDE Dev (Build 201011160001)
Operating System = Windows XP version 5.1 running on x86
Java; VM; Vendor = 1.6.0_20
Runtime = Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM 16.3-b01

I created a new JavaDB database for a new Rails 2.3.8 project (generated by IDE with Built-in JRuby 1.5.1 and jdbc access).

The database was created after the rails project and the following was updated in the generated database.yml file :

development:
  adapter: jdbc
  driver: org.apache.derby.jdbc.ClientDriver
  url: jdbc:derby://localhost:1527/ActiveRecordSample_development
  user: test
  password: test

Following the rapid-ruby-weblog tutorial I created a simple scaffold for the Post table and attempted to run rake db:migrate.

The resulting error is:

rake aborted!
The driver encountered an error: java.sql.SQLNonTransientConnectionException: User id length (0) is outside the range of 1 to 255.
