Description Troy Giunipero 2010-03-18 13:08:08 UTC
When calling up documentation support on JSTL tags in the editor, there is an icon that lets you view documentation in an external browser. (This icon is in the top toolbar of the Javadoc popup.) This doesn't seem to work for the bundled JSTL tag library documentation.

Also, the current version JSTL is 1.2. The IDE bundles documentation for 1.1.

Displaying the documentation in external browser works for me. Perhaps there is a general problem of the communication between the IDE and the external browser on your machine.. Does the browser open correctly e.g when you run a web project?

It is true that we still only bundle docs for JSTL 1.1.

Yes, in fact I use the external browser continuously with web projects, as well as calling the external browser on the bundled Java EE API spec.

As a side note, I've found that the documentation listed under Help > Javadoc References /is/ accessible by external browser. This is documentation that is contained in <install-dir>/enterprise6/docs. The jstl11-doc.zip is contained there. This documentation appears when pressing Ctrl-Space in the editor, but it is not listed under Help > Javadoc References, nor can I open it in an external browser.

Report from old NetBeans version. Due to code changes since it was reported likely not reproducible now. Feel free to reopen if happens in 8.0.2 or 8.1.
