Trouble installing NB 6.7.1 on Windows XP

Utilization goes up to 60-100% both on initial start up for about 20-30 minutes, and then on the Customize Installation Screen - for ever...

What gives?

Thanks
Leonid

Leonid,

Could you please make the thread dump in both cases?

1) Run from the console
netbeans-6.7.1-ml-windows.exe --extract
2) Then
java -jar bundle.jar > output.txt 2>&1
3) When installer first "hangs" on initial start, press Ctrl-Break (in the console) twice with 1-2 seconds period
4) When installer "hangs" on Customize Installation Screen, press Ctrl-Break,
again, twice with 1-2 seconds period
5) Then press Ctrl-C and attach out.txt file

Thanks.

Thanks, I will do that.
For now, I am on the NetBeans IDE Installer "Choose the installation folder and server properties" screen.

No matter what I enter into the HTTP Port: , I get "HTTP port "xxxx" is already occupied on this machine. Please select another port."

Before I leave this screen, is there something we can try at this point?

java.exe is finaly at 0% utilization...

Thanks
Leonid

Turn firewall off if you have any. I also remember that some of the Microsoft software (don`t remember exactly which one) can cause some behaviour.

I do remember similar problem from a few years back. Can you please find what Windows software might be causing this? I did disable firewall, but it did not seem to help. Also there was some sort of registry text file that might have to be changed on failed installs? I don't remember the name. Somewhere in the system or system32 directory. Thanks. Leonid

I found the configuration file which I was thinking about on another computer:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\productregistry, but not on the one giving me problems. Any idea why this file does not exist on my new new laptop? I am at loss. Even though I don't think it is a problem with this file.

I will create the log files that were recommended earlier in the discussion.

Thanks
Leonid

If I am not mistaken this file belongs to the Sun Java System Application Server 8.x or 9.x, and is created by server`s installer (standalone, not bundled with NetBeans). So if you haven`t installed and used either of those servers, then this file is not available.

It can be Microsoft IIS (Internet Information Services).

Could you please do that? :)

Thanks.
