As part of EE5 support in NB the multiview (aka GUI) editor for ejb-jar.xml was disabled. It was disabled because EE5 introduced annotations in addition of ejb-jar.xml and "GUI editor would have to show this merged deployment descriptor model which was too much work". I think that reasoning is wrong: multi-view editor displays alternative view of the underlying file and should therefore show only what's available in ejb-jar.xml and annotations are irrelevant. In that light I suggest to revive GUI editor. Considering annotations are preferred over XML I don't think this issue has high priority. Filing it for record. Here are other known problems of GUI editor: issue 57998 - ejb-jar.xml multiview editor support of alt-dds issue 59335 - Supoort for secusrity in ejb-jar.xml visual editor issue 70755 - Delete ejb-ref element from visual editor issue 55954 - DD editor: when switching to XML source, cursor should be pl issue 68072 - adding an ejb reference issue 77481 - Enable Multiview UI for JavaEE5 ejb-jar.xml issue 68788 - Broken painting of ejb-jar editor
It depends on several of ejb-jar.xml DD issues and probably there will not be enough of time for fixing them all into nb7.1. Target milestone set to Next.
