In the 'Project properties' window
Select 'Build->Make' category

The 'build result' textfield does not support environment variable notation : ${VAR} 

My configuration :
Product Version: NetBeans IDE 6.7 RC1 (Build 200905282243)
Java: 1.6.0_14; Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM 14.0-b16
System: Linux version 2.6.9-55.ELsmp running on amd64; ANSI_X3.4-1968; en_US (nb)
