This is probably a random bug. Starting with an empty userdir, I created a new PHP project. The "File" menu is missing, see the attached screenshot. Here is my build: Product Version: NetBeans IDE 6.7 RC2 (Build 200906042131) Java: 1.6.0_07; Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM 1.6.0_07-b06-57 System: Mac OS X version 10.5.7 running on x86_64; MacRoman; en_US (nb)
Created attachment 83302 [details] Screenshot of the menu with missing File item
Restarting the IDE fixes the problem. The IDE log file does not contain anything that would look related.
Maybe the File menu is an optional ergonomic on demand feature? :-)
Stando, have a look at this one.
i had a look but didn't find any clues - what am i supposed to do about this? any steps to reproduce?
I must say I don't know how to reproduce consistently, but there is another report of this on nbusers: http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=nbusers&msgNo=137720 I believe this is a regression since RC1, so it may be worth checking the changes between RC1 and RC2 and reviewing them.
Tried reproducing with RC3, no luck. Looking at release67 changesets after RC1 and before Jun/8, no obvious candidate for such a regression found. Marking as RANDOM, TM=6.8 for now.
We don't have any additional information that would help us reproduce the problem nor any other report. Fixing as worksforme now. Please, reopen if you happen to see the problem again. And tell us before restarting the IDE. We would like to see it on your computer before the problem disappears again. Thanks.
