Description michel_demazure 2009-01-04 09:56:21 UTC
ruby-windows 200901031401 unable to load plugins (java, GUI builder ...) : end in error.
Still works for previous 20081203.

Could you be more specific? Do you receive this message after start-up of NetBeans? Of do you mean somehow Rails plugins
manager? Thanks.

I've tried to reproduce on *Linux* with continuous build:

http://deadlock.netbeans.org/hudson/job/trunk/4734/artifact/nbbuild/dist/zip/
->
http://deadlock.netbeans.org/hudson/job/trunk/4734/artifact/nbbuild/dist/zip/netbeans-hudson-trunk-4734-ruby.zip

I've:

0) unzipped and started netbeans-hudson-trunk-4734-ruby.zip
1) installed GUI BUilder
1a) Menu | Tools | Plugins | Available Plugins
1b) Search Field -> "GUI Builder" -> Install
    (it requested also Ant, Java, Java Profiler and Java Persistence)
2) after plugins installation tried to create JPanel - worked
3) restarted NetBeans
4) tried to edit JPanel - worked

Could you describe steps similar to mine which did not work for you? Please keep discussion here, since the issue might
end up in different module so the eventual new owner has as much information as possible. Thanks.

Took some time to check, because disk crash on my portable ...

Test : situation is worse. Installation of bundled plugins is broken !

"old" = 20081203
"new" = 20090108

Checking "old" : works
After installing "new", when opening, no ruby present, bundled plugins not installed !
Going back to old version, opening, diagnostic : unable to load bundled plugins !
Desinstalling both, cleaning .nbi, etc. in HOME, reinstalling "new" : same problem.
Desinstalling "new", cleaning, installing "old" : works ! Install extra plugins : works.

So when you just install nightly Ruby build from:

   http://bits.netbeans.org/download/trunk/nightly/latest/

it does not contains Ruby support? Do I understand it correctly?
Comment 6 michel_demazure 2009-01-14 10:55:19 UTC
Exactly, Martin, and without complaining.

And moreover, after that, if you open the old version, it complains and says it is unable to load the ruby (+...) plugins.

Which means that something has become wrong in the saved "dot" files in HOME.

I had to erase all the . files (.nbi, .netbeans, ....), desinstall both and reinstall the old ...

So the bug seems to be in the installer and/or .nbi. Not sure how that works. Reassigning to installer, increasing
priority accordingly.

So seemingly fixed yesterday, Michel. You might check newer build as noted in the dupe:

"Integrated into 'main-golden', will be available in build *200901140201* on http://bits.netbeans.org/dev/nightly/
(upload may still be in progress)"
