Many databases support the ability to alter a column's properties such as size, type, etc.  (for instance, see
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/alter-table.html, ALTER TABLE MODIFY COLUMN).  

But the UI for the DB explorer does not provide any support for this.  If you click on a column's properties, all
properties are viewable but not editable.
