Hi!

Can you please do following for us:

1. Please paste information from "Help>About" here, so that we can see exact version of NB, JDK and OS.

2. Attach "messages.log" file, can be found in "<user_home>/.netbeans/6.1/var/log"

3. Try to run IDE with fresh userdir? Use command-line switch to do that:

> netbeans.exe --userdir C:/path/to/some/folder/with/rw/access

If typing '~' works with a fresh userdir, please delete folder "<user_home>/.netbeans/6.1" - this will delete default
userdir.

4. Can you please test if typing '~' works in NetBeans 6.5?

Thank you.

Thanks for log, but unfortunately I cannot see anything wrong in it.

Is it possible to write '~' in other java programs? Which keyboard layout do you use?

Thanks for your answer.

It is not possible to write "~" character in other java programs in Netbeans, but if you mean another editor-compiler
like Netbeans, yeah I am able to write "~" character with JCreator. My keyboard is Turkish-Q layout i think.(I am not
sure what is keyboard layout)

So, what happens when you type '~' in Netbeans? No input at all, some other character entered, something else? Does
entering '~' work in java notepad (eg. run java -jar ${JAVA_HOME}/demo/jfc/Notepad/Notepad.jar)? Thanks

See also issue #152787? How do you normally type '~' character? Do you have to use AltGr or some other additional
modifier key?
