The problem is with administrator privileges. If you install or just try to start Gf v3 from Netbeans and you're not administrator or don't have the administrator rights on Vista,Glassfish won't start. Since most users have administrator rights by default,I don't think this is a stopper issue, but the description of the issue and also solution should be definitely added to Release notes.
Petr: Are you saying you didn't receive any message that this wasn't going to work? Was this a bundle install? Which one? (Java configuration implies "java download" to me, and that one doesn't contain V3 -- did you mean JavaEE bundle?) I'll confer with Vince, but I was under the impression that on Vista, with the Bundled JavaEE distribution, that the bundled server would creat a personal domain for you and that domain would be the one that is automatically installed, and it should work. Of course, if you install the server separately as admin, it won't start when at user privilege level, but we coded the "Add Server Wizard" to check for things like this and make you create your own domain. I know the logic works on Unix boxes, but Vista is a little weird. Maybe it's broken.
You are right, I didn't get any message that server will not run correctly, only exceptions in output tab were printed. I refer Java bundle that is available on this download page: http://download.netbeans.org/netbeans/6.5/rc/. The domain was located in C:/Program Files/glassfish/domains/domain1. I didn't install bundle as admin and then run as non-privileged user. I just installed bundle as non-admin user and start IDE/GF as same user next.
