In NB 6.5 daily, a class diagram cannot be exported to a SVG file. The Export as Image dialog only allows image types 
of PNG and JPG.
Exporting to SVG works in NB 6.1.

unfortunately it's 6.5 release limitation.

after finalizing 6.5 and with curent later plans, it's a desired feature instead of defect.

the Netbeans 6.5 help still offers SVG export:
