I download the dev build "Java" bundle a few times a week. At 177MB a pop it's both and annoyance to me and to the people paying the bills for netbeans.org. How about allowing users to download a minimal install that does the following? 1) Select a bundle 2) Hitting "customize" (as the existing installer allows) would let me select/unselect features within the a bundle. The difference, though, is that I would be able to configure these *before* downloading the components. A large chunk of the "Java" bundle consists of Tomcat, Glassfish 2 and Glassfish 3 which are only ever installed once. The proposed installer would be able to detect ahead of time that I already have these installed and it wouldn't bother downloading them. Currently the offline installer detects they are installed and skips their installation, but it still forces me to download them in the first place.
