This Bugzilla instance is a read-only archive of historic NetBeans bug reports. To report a bug in NetBeans please follow the project's instructions for reporting issues.
Product Version: NetBeans IDE Dev (Build 200808061401) Java: 1.6.0_10-rc; Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM 11.0-b13 System: Linux version 2.6.24-19-generic running on i386; UTF-8; en_US (nb) Start (full) IDE, invoke Window>Other>Ruby Shell. Nothing happens. No view is opened even if you close all NB views (so that you have only window with main menu and toolbar...).
Item should be disabled when no ruby project is opened. (sorry for wrong priority - fat fingers)
(One more observation: When you create a Ruby project, you are able to open Ruby Shell. When you delete the project, ruby shell remains opened and active. There is therefore no need to disable opening ruby shell when no ruby project is opened.)
It is on purpose since platform of the project in the context is used to run 'irb'. The IRB menu item should go to the project's context menu. See issue 137398.
I'll tweak it to show information dialog or will fix issue 137398.
Fixed as described: #3abb2c4e3377
Integrated into 'main-golden', available in build *200808080201* on http://bits.netbeans.org/dev/nightly/ Changeset: http://hg.netbeans.org/main/rev/3abb2c4e3377 User: Martin Krauskopf <mkrauskopf@netbeans.org> Log: Providing information for the user if there is no project in the context (see issue #143154)
Verified, item has moved to the Ruby project context menu.
