Users on nbusers mailing reported they were unable to create a thread dump. They are aware of the wiki page describing the process of generating thread dump, but none of the shortcuts works for them (Ctrl+Backslasn nor Ctrl+Pause/Break). They both run on Windows, they know they must run the correct executable file (nb.exe). I have got the info from one user - he uses a VirtualBox to run NB: Product Version: Netbeans IDE 6.0.1 (Build 200801291616) Java: 1.6.0_07; Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM 10.0-b23 System: Windows XP version 5.1 running on x86; Cp1252; en_US (nb) Other user said he uses 64bit version of XP without virtualization. Since these cases seem to be rather rare and they are probably platform dependent, I have set the priority of this bug to P4...
NB: deadlock - 20080720183726 OS: Ubuntu 8.04 JDK: 1.5.0 I just came across this problem personally: I start a "deadlock" build, then an irresponsible/empty window entitled "License agreements" shows up and IDE startup freezes. When I try to generate the thread dump (the usual, previously working way), nothing happens.
I suppose this is not a problem of NB, jdk generates thread dump not IDE. So please create issue against jdk...
