The dialogs displayed by the IDE at a small resolution (800x600) don't use the whole screen. For example, the project
properties window for a C++ project keeps some "borders" of maybe 100px top/bottom and 50px left/right.

Of course, as the actual component is bigger some scroll bars do show up and I'm able to use the screen.

But if I manually resize the dialog, the scroll bars go away (and the dialog is almost like a maximized window now).

Basically the dialog size computation seems to be too conservative.

I'm sorry, but minimal resolution needed for NetBeans IDE is 1024x768, see:
