Product Version: NetBeans IDE Dev (Build 200803250006) Java: 1.6.0_10-beta; Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM 11.0-b11 System: Windows XP version 5.1 running on x86; Cp1250; cs_CZ (nb) Create a new category in the palette (using Palette Manager or Palette window pop-up menu). Then, open a Palette Manager and click "Add to palette" button. Add some custom component. Initially, the component is in the "Custom" category. If I want to change the category for the newly added component, I need to use a Palette window. I can drag&drop the component from the Custom category to any other category in the Palette window. However, I cannot do the same in the Palette manager. The same holds for any other components. You can drag&drop any component to any category in the Palette window, but not in the Palette Manager. It should be possible to use a Palette Manager to manage a palette completely or maybe ot would be best to cancel the Palette Manager dialog (you don't really need it anyway - it just throws a bunch of exceptions when you manipulate the palette items in both Palette Window and the Palette Manager).
Palette Window is provided by core/palette => reassigning appropriately. The request seems invalid(=already implemented) to me - I am already able to drag and drop components between categories.
drag and drop does work in palette manager window. pls attach the exceptions it allegedly throws and reopen, thanks
You are right, it works for the Swing/AWT. It does not work only for the Mobility Development. Open Tools > Palette > MIDP Visual Mobile Designer...
For the Mobility guys: What is the correct behavior, the one provided by Palette Window (you can drag and drop any component to any category) or the one provided with Palette Manager (you cannot use drag and drop in above mentioned way)? The drag and drop works as expected for Swing/AWT...
We may implement full support for D&D for the future releases.
