Session Manager should allow user to control ide sessions. There would be actions like create/delete/rename/save as/import session and switch between sessions. See http://projects.netbeans.org/ps/UsrSession.html
Simple version was implemented in core. Further improvements were postponed to nb4.0. org.netbeans.core.projects.SessionManager
Reopened with target 4.0 to prevent the task being omitted. Using the REMIND resolution is prohibited now.
In the light of recent dev@project discussion this might be related to a switching of (debugging) "task"....
The simplest goal is to steal code from current project module - "Project Manager" and re-localize it to be "Session Manager". It should be a separate module available on autoupdate for those of us who wants backward compatibility. Closely related to issue 26338, that would give the module to create clean implementation not depended on core.
This is obsolete, isn't it ?
Base version of this is implemented in "contrib/profiles", nobody however plans to continue the development of the module, imho.
