Description Alexei Mokeev 2007-12-12 08:56:09 UTC
If Glassfish is installed using Netbeans installer then there should be created a tray item for Glassfish Update Center.
Investigation is necessary in order to understand how GF does that.
Please refer to https://jdic.dev.java.net/documentation/index.html since Jdic has used for original implementation.

Actually the current situation is something similar to the following.

During Application Server installation (using its own installer), the "Start Updatecenter" shortcut is created in the
Application Server group: Start->Programs->Sun Microsystems->Application Server 9.1->Start Update Center

If, additionally, the user checked the "Enable Updatecenter Client" checkbox on one of the installation panels, then
the new entry is added to the list of startup applications:
Start->Programs->Startup->Update Center Client Tray

Anyway this is only for AppServer : GlassFish has no Start menu entries (Issue 93835) at all and does not enable update
center using it`s own installer so the issue look like the enhancement that a defect.

We should consider a new checkbox named "Enable Updatecenter Client" at GlassFish/AppServer panel (see http://
ui.netbeans.org/docs/hi/nbi/images/nbi-wizard-glassfish.png) so CC-ing Jano. In checked state it would create an entry
in Startup.
In case of AppServer installation, it should always create "Start Update Center" shortcut in the product group folder.
