Description loukur 2007-10-25 13:46:06 UTC
There is an error in "Introduction to Developing General Java Applications" at URL http://www.netbeans.org/kb/55/javase-
intro.html.

Section Editing a Java File, Step 7 reads:
"Press Enter to start a new line. Then type sout and press space." That should read:
"Press Enter to start a new line. Then type sout and press tab."

Thanks for the reminder. Will fix this for 6.0

Reminder? I guess my search for this being a known problem was not thorough enough. It was a real stumper when I went
through the tutorial.

I can imagine your frustration from having something so fundamental not working as described.

In fact, this tutorial is correct for 5.5 (which it was written for as indicated in the title). We changed to tab in
6.0, but I haven't yet had time to provide a 6.0 version of that tutorial. As I said, that's coming soon.

Thank you very much.

There was an upside. In the course of figuring out why "space" did not work with 6.0, I learned how to use the mail
archives and defect reporting.
Comment 5 Patrick Keegan 2007-11-02 19:51:20 UTC
I've fixed this for the 6.0 version of the doc . Within an hour or so, the doc should appear here:
http://www.netbeans.org/kb/60/java/javase-intro.html

In the meantime, you can verify it here if you'd like: http://testwww.netbeans.org/kb/60/java/javase-intro.html

Any other comments welcome. I've made a number of changes to the tutorial
