Description Ken Frank 2007-09-29 22:58:30 UTC
if user chooses a certain fontsize, it seems that there should not be items in a smaller
font size; various issues on this in other parts have changed the fontsize to be the
global font size.

this is for main profiler window for the words overhead and advanced settings.

please check other code to see if any fonts have hardcoded sizes and change to use global font size.

see gif.

Comment 2 Jiri Sedlacek 2007-10-01 09:38:10 UTC
Smaller font is also used for legend of small telemetry graphs in the Output window area and for milliseconds in time
axis of profiler charts. The same for "Overhead" and "Basic/Advanced settings" labels in Select Profiling Task dialog
(FYI "too small" means default - 1px). This is by design and intentional, I haven't seen any complaints about the
legend/milliseconds font size yet - please note that we use this UI since the initial profiler versions.

I'm not aware of any guideline which forbids using smaller than default/specified fontsizes. For me the
default/specified fontsize applies to most of the UI the user works with - and that's true for Select Profiling Task
dialog as well. "Overhead" and "Basic/Advanced settings" are additional information/settings with lower importance, thus
with smaller fontsize.

To keep the designed approach, these two strings would need to use default/specified fontsize and the rest of the dialog
would use bigger fonts - I think that would be a real UI bug related to fontsize.

Since UI spec of the dialog has been reviewed and accepted by xDesign and the dialog is implemented according to this
spec, I'm closing this issue as INVALID. Please reopen if you know about any guideline describing smallest posible
fontsize or file new issue if the current design makes it impossible to use the dialog in some locales.

lets leave it resolved as per your comments, but wanted to explain one case
in that chinese localized release hardcodes global ide font to 14, since some chinese font
quality below that is not good.

in this case it means that items with font sizes below that would not be seen as well.
