When starting the IDE with the --fontsize option such as "./netbeans --fontsize 8" the specified size has effect only on the "Start Page" window, but not on the menu bar or the "Projects" window. Problem may or may not relate to Issue ID:32667, 82774
What Look And Feel do you use? It works fine for me on Metal L&F
I use the default Gnome desktop of CentOS 5.
If you're running on Gnome and you use jdk 1.6_01 or later, the default look and feel is GTK. You can then set font for all applications in system options (gnome-font-properties tool)
Do you mean that it is normal with Gnome, GTK and jdk 1.6 that --fontsize option has no effect in connection with Netbeans 6? If you do, I can accept that and live with it. I raised the question because --fontsize option works well with Netbeans 5.51 on the same system. Also checked the issue with KDE and jdk 1.6, and the --fontsize option works as intended there with Netbeans 6, as you have already pointed out.
Reassigning to core, for evaluation, maybe we can do something about it.
bordasb, does changing font size in system options for the Gnome as whole change the font size also in NetBeans for you? > Do you mean that it is normal with Gnome, GTK and jdk 1.6 that --fontsize option has no effect? Yes, this is correct. Reassigning to Dafe who can explain more and close this issue.
Yes, this is duplicate of 100322. On GTK L&F, --fontsize really has no effect, warning is logged if --fontsize is used AFAIK. Ideally --fontsize should work on GTK L&F the same way as in other L&Fs, that's why we leave 100322 opened - unfortunately it's tricky and I didn't find out how to change font sizes in GTK L&F yet. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 100322 ***
