Description dalecooper82 2007-08-17 18:24:45 UTC
Hi,

would you consider, please, making available NB6 installer package that includes JEE/Web features in NB but does not
force us to download Glassfish and Tomcat runtimes as part of the installer?

It might be only me but the case is I never use bundled glassfish, especially now as GF hits Beta/RC stage and release
cycle there is short.

I always turn off installation of bundled Glassfish during install and register the server (I already have) in IDE,
which is nice and easy (excellent integration, thanks).

On top of that I do not intend to use Tomcat for anything.

Still both runtimes come as part of the download. Omitting that would save you and us quite a lot of (wasted) bandwidth.

dalecooper82,

you can use zip distribution of "NetBeans for JavaEE" for these purposes:
http://bits.netbeans.org/download/6.0/nightly/latest/zip/netbeans-trunk-nightly-200708200000-javaee.zip

Providing such installers without runtimes results in not out-of-box experience. Most probably the feature won`t be
resolved in the foreseeable future.

Adding Trung to the CC list as he owns the content of the installers.

Ah, I see. That is true, did not think of that "out of the box experience" bit, sorry ;)

That is fine, will work for me.

Closing with "WORKSFORME" :)
