Description gutierrezge 2007-07-22 17:19:11 UTC
Hi, i could be nice to be able to change the j2EE Server version, nowadays there are comming new servers with the best
things of java and they can't be used because the J2EE servers is only for j2EE 1.4, like JBOSS, the configuration is
still the same, not everybody develop for tomcat or Sun app server.

I am sorry but I do not really understand the description. Could you please elaborate the description a bit more?

Changing to ENHANCEMENT and marking as INCOMPLETE.

Sure i can,

I did an application that runs with Sun Application Server, but i need run it on JBoss Server, so I added a JBoss Server
on netbeans, the problem is, the application use new feature of java like persistence, annotations, generics and other
stuff, so when i try to change the server from Sun App. to JBoss Serv. i couldn't because the server wasn't on the list
of available server for that project because the java2ee version is 1.4 and it can't be cahnged, so my suggestion or
question is. if there is away to change that, because i can run it with tomcat and other servers that netbeans recognize
has 1.5 but jboss still on 1.4, and that's false cause i have other application that where build on eclipse using those
new java features and they are running on jboss.

I see your point.

It seems to me quite reasonable to allow switching the Jave EE 5 project to a server which does not support Java EE 5,
the IDE should obviously display a warning message in such a case.

Reassigning the issue to web/project.

Please reassign to other project types if needed after this gets resolved.

Petr, I think we have already discussed this - am I right? Is there any change/progress in this area?
Comment 6 Petr Jiricka 2007-07-27 13:49:42 UTC
I don't understand - I am not sure we discussed this. This could be a reasonable enhancement, why not. But for NetBeans
6.0 we are beyond the point when we do enhancements, we will only fix bugs from now on.

Which version of JBoss do you use? This should work fine with JBoss 5 beta 2.
