Description _ tboudreau 2007-07-17 08:03:04 UTC
I'm installing build 200707161200, running under JDK 1.6 update 2 build 6.

On starting the installer, the "configuring installer" dialog appears immediately. It finishes and disappears. The
installer stays at 99% cpu for 5 minutes with nothing on the screen. Finally the wizard appears. When I get to the jdk
scan page, it gets to 100%.

Then the UI hangs - the AWT thread is blocked, task manager showing java.exe using 99% CPU...for 15 minutes! There
appeared to be a little bit of disk activity.

Finally the next button is enabled and I click next, and get to a page showing installation locations. I click Next.
The UI becomes unresponsive. After 7 minutes and counting, it still is.

I have to do a presentation on this machine tomorrow. I think I will be up all night just waiting for the installer.

BTW, one slightly unusual thing about my system is that I have JDK 1.4.2_05, JDK 1.4.2_06, JDK 1.5, JDK 1.6 and JDK
1.6.0_02 installed (maybe explains some of the time the JDK scan page took).

Tim, can you attach the installation log file?
Also, am I right assuming that the issue occurred on windows? And the last question -- does a previous (or an earlier)
build work correctly?

Seems to have been something horribly wrong with my system. Reinstalling the OS cleared it up. All Java apps were slowed down to about 1/20th their
normal speed.

Reopening to clear the assignment.
