It looks like the latest dev builds ship without web project support. When one goes to open an existing web project it initially shows up with a NB project icon, but when the folder is selected the project icon goes away. Messages.log reads: WARNING [org.netbeans.api.project.ProjectManager]: Directory C:\Documents and Settings\Gili\My Documents\blueeye\trunk\registry\Netbeans6.0 was initially claimed to be a project folder but really was not I would expect Netbeans to prompt the user: "The project you have selected requires the web plugin, would you like to install it now?"
Reassigning to "web" for evaluation...
This is a strange. The dev build contains web project support. It was there any other message? Like whether some modules were disabled?
dev builds "basic" does not contain web support, and no I don't think anything was disabled.
You are right there is not web project support in the basic IDE distribution.
This old bug may not be relevant anymore. If you can still reproduce it in 8.2 development builds please reopen this issue. Thanks for your cooperation, NetBeans IDE 8.2 Release Boss
Still relevant in dev build 201607070002.
