Description tnelson 2007-05-15 17:18:32 UTC
It would be nice to be able to target a generic JEE/J2EE server for enterprise
projects. This choice would configure a project using only standard-mandated
files (e.g., only an application.xml file under META-INF, no sun-web.xml or
wl-application.xml).

I work on projects where the target server is variable (and frequently
unsupported by NB), and it would be nice if I could just create a generic
project that I could deploy and configure on any standard-compliant server. Or
at least produce an .ear file that I could amend with any server-specific DDs.

Increasing the priority to P2, since this feature seems really useful and
needed. Unfortunately, right now I have no estimates when this enhancement will
be implemented.

Our experience shows such generic server won't really work well in real world.
