Sometimes ( under linux, not sure other OS ) when you open a C++ project and you try to see its properties the "running" and "debugging" properties in the "configuration properties" don't appear. The collateral effect of this is that I can't debug using the "Run->Debug main project" neither "Run->Run main project", etc... I just press over it and nothing happens ( and there are no apreciable error text in the messages.log ) I usually open the project too in Windows and modify it, so perhaps it due to different treatment of the XML files ( I use NB5.5 in both linux and Windows, but perhaps you are doing something different opening/saving projects? ) thx

Reassigning to Thomas as I think he is the one who fixed this problem during C/C++ pack 5.5.1 development.
Most likely same as [Issue 89780] Debugging and Running pages in Project Properties are corrupted in debug mode http://www.netbeans.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=89780 Is has been fixed in CND 5.5.1. Will close as fixed.
