build: NB 6.0 daily 20070423 (full installation) Steps to reproduce it: 1. Install NB 6.0 into default location, C:\Program Files. 2. Remove NB6.0 from "Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs". 3. Check the C:\Program Files folder, "AppServer-b41c" is still exist. If installer installs both IDE and App Server, uninstaller should uninstall both of them as well. Workaround: Remove App Server program from "Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs".
I'm seeing this as an enhancement request rather than a defect. Bundling AS and IDE together is a matter of making it easier for the user to download and install the two products. They are still absolutely independent, so why should they have a common Add/Remove Programs entry?
I disagree with you. From the user point of view, if IDE and AppServer come together, they should go together.
Lets ask Jano about user experience perspective :)
Just want to comment: another engineer was also concerned about this behavior so we should probably consider this as a bug
Bundling glassfish is mostly for users' convenience. It's really a separate piece of software so it should have a separate item in the Add/Remove panel on windows. OTOH, for users' convenience we could offer to uninstall glassfish if the user uninstall NetBeans IDE. I can imagine we add a check box into the NetBeans remove dialog saying something like: [x] Remove also GlassFish Application Server
Provide the "[x] Remove also GlassFish Application Server" option is good enough. Thanks.
