No measurable improvement on Linux / ext3 filesystem. Patched distribution passed to Petr Cyhelsky for testing on reference Windows and maybe other platforfms.

Measured on both linux and windows.
on Linux/ext3     there is no improvement
on Windows/ntfs   there is ~10% improvent (12% cold, 8% warm)
