Description ftg314159 2009-12-26 14:05:25 UTC
In current and previous versions of NetBeans, the icons for desktop and panel entr ies are placed in a version-specific directory whose name has the form nbX.Y, e.g. nb6.8.

This causes problems for those of us who like to upgrade NB without modifying the GUI. I install NB in /usr/local, and then define a symlink of NetBeans -> netbeans-X.Y. Then I define the icon path in panel and desktop launchers using /usr/local/NetBeans/...

The problem is that in spite of the NetBeans symlink, the icon path is broken with each upgrade because the subdirectory changes from nbX.Y to nbY.Z.

This enhancement request that these icons be moved or at least symlinked to a non-version-specific subdirectory, or that an icon directory symlink be created to point to nbX.Y, so that external links to the icons don't break upon upgrade.
