Description giorgio42 2008-07-15 20:46:38 UTC
If the term I have been searching for has many hits on a help system page, the text is almost unreadable due to all the
highlighting. Please provide a button to turn the highlighting off (I think many IDE's help systems provide this
feature, Eclipse being among them, FWIW).

Where is it in Eclipse? I tried 3.4.0 on Linux/GTK and did not see anything to reset search highlight. Anyway it is
enhancement for Javahelp. I filed issue https://javahelp.dev.java.net/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=24.

See attachment (the one enclosed in a blue square).

Just delegating to JavaHelp is not enough. I have looked at all the 24 bug reports there and I got the impression that
JavaHelp is in a dismal state. Is it under active development at all? If JH is not sufficient, NB needs to roll its own
help system (would be a really thing, but imagine all the NB RCP-based applications will be accompanied by a
underfeatured, dated looking help system...).

BTW: Another extremely useful button in the attached screenshot is the fourth one (from the left) with the outline icon
("Show in All Topics" or "Show in Table of Contents").

"...would be a really thing...". Of course I wanted to write "...really bad thing...".

I see. I opened Help Contents which opens separate window without any toolbar. When I open Search/Dynamic Help it opens
Help in main window and there is toolbar.
