Description gholmer 2007-10-03 14:09:11 UTC
[ BUILD # : 200710010000 ]
[ JDK VERSION : 1.5.* ]

Users may want to use a different font size when printing than in the
editor. This was possible in previous versions of NetBeans, but no
longer in 6.0. Please restore this functionality.

Currently, because I like to keep hard-copy printouts of my code, I have my right margin in NB6B2 set at 75 characters,
which does not give a lot of space in the editor for typing in nested code blocks. Yet, when I print out that code, the
printer still breaks lines in strange places and my code is then hard to read in hard-copy form. It would be nice if we
could, in the Advanced Options under Tools...Options, set the font and size for the body text of the printed document,
like we can for the header and footer fonts and sizes. It would be great if all of the formatting options were right
there in the same location, as well, instead of being able to set the header and footer fonts and sizes there and then
being able to set the body font and size elsewhere. Thanks for looking at this and, hopefully, adding this
functionality back. It sure would be nice for keeping a portfolio of code in hard-copy.

Yes, please restore this function. Since it existed in the earlier version, I never suspected it would be removed.

I am new to NetBeans and was surprised to find that this functionality did not exist. I often work from a printed
version of my program. When the screen font is used for printing I get far too many pages and the resulting word wrap
make the program much more difficult to follow.

I am running the IDE on Windows Vista Ultimate.

This old bug may not be relevant anymore. If you can still reproduce it in 8.2 development builds please reopen this issue.

Thanks for your cooperation,

In the development build netbeans-trunk-nightly-201607070002-php-windows-x86.exe, I don't see any way to set the font when printing text - neither in File | Page Setup, nor in Tools | Options | Fonts and Colors.

A related idea, would be a choice to use colored fonts, or only black and white. This is not so important, however, since I can always go into File | Print | Properties | Advanced, and tell my printer to use only black and white.
