NetBeans uses 'monospaced/12' font in the output window and the editors. 'monospaced' is a logical font which is mapped to different physical font on different OSes and Locales. 'monospaced' is mapped to 'Courier New' on an English Windows, which is nice for programming and output. However, on a Chinese Windows, it is mapped to 'SimSun(ËÎÌå)' or 'NSimSun(ÐÂËÎ
Ìå)'. 'SimSun/NSimSun' is specificly designed for Chinese characters. However, it has its own glyph set for the latin characters, which is much smaller(almost 1/2) than other font such as 'Courier New'. And also it is very ugly. Developers using Chinese version keep complaining about this.
In the other hand, I found that another logical font 'DialogInput' is a perfect match for displaying source code and output in Chinese. Latin characters in 'DialogInput' are mapped to 'Courier New' while Chinese characters are mapped to 'SimSun/NSimSun'. This mapping is both good for displaying source code and Chinese comments. It is a perfect choice for Chinese netbeans.
Therefore, I suggest 'DialogInput/12' is used as the default font both for the output window and the source editors. In this way, you don't need to enlarge the font to 13, 14 or 15. Because when you do this, you may somewhat correct the latin displaying, but you also increase the Chinese font size! 'DialogInput/12' is both beautiful and legible.
