Changesets in releases are often transplanted from elsewhere (e.g. from main-golden). AFAIK hg transplant gives the copied changeset a new ID although its contents remain the same.

Looks to me like there's been some history rewriting there which makes me question I will get the same bytes when I do a clone.

release71 is a branch. release71_fcs is a tag. I am not sure what the significance of 590436a01896 is supposed to be.
