Hi all,

Welcome to another update on activities relating to the NetBeans Platform Certified Training.

As always, this e-mail provides a few things you might like to know about as students of the NetBeans Platform. This e-mail is sent approximately once every two months, no one other than myself is able to write to it, no spam is able to come in.

1. New subscribers to this list. There are several new subscribers to this list, from recent training courses done in the the Netherlands and Germany. For example, read about the training course held at the Vrijeuniversiteit Amsterdam here. Welcome!

2. Slides. Several students have asked where they can find the slides used in trainings, as well as the related sample code. Here you can find these. For German students, search for "German" in the page above and you will find several slide decks by NetBeans Platform trainers Aljoscha Rittner and Toni Epple.

3. Recommended student projects. Want to upgrade your certificate to "NetBeans Platform Certified Engineer"? To become a NetBeans Platform Certified Engineer, you need to make contributions to an existing NetBeans Platform project (or make your own). Here are some options:

• OpenLeanMed, a clinic management platform written by developers in Germany, Serbia, and Burkina Faso. Write to Henning, Constantin, and Igor at "> for further information on how you can help.
• AgroSense, an open-source farm management system, backed by a software consultancy in the Netherlands, is actively looking for interns. Write to Timon Veenstra at "> for further information.
  
• Modelica, a software system aimed at modeling Formula 1, and other automotive systems, is looking for interns. Write to Peter Harman at "> for details.
• Instant JChem, a database application for biochemists, is always on the look out for more developers. Write to Tim Dudgeon at "> for details.
• Modular Jmol, started during the recent NetBeans Platform course in Amsterdam, could use some more data view components. Write to Joris Snellenburg at "> to get involved in this project.
  

4. Screenshots. The NetBeans Platform screenshots page is looking for more screenshots! The 200th NetBeans Platform Screenshot Competition is coming to an end soon, there are around 50 new screenshots already -- have you submitted yours? Respond to this e-mail with a screenshot of your app and, if it isn't already on the screenshot page, it will be entered into the competition.

5. Upcoming Training Courses. Aside from company trainings, several more NetBeans Platform trainings are going to be held this year. Do you know of anywhere where there are developers interested in creating pluggable applications on the Java desktop? Please write back with details and we'll contact them. The training course is free at JUGs and universities but is also held frequently in-house inside companies and organizations.
