| Hi
" target="_blank">
! Here's your Flixster movie update for the week of October 1st, 2009. |
OPENING THIS WEEK
In a world without lies, a down-on-his-luck loser (Gervais) suddenly develops the ability to lie. And while dishonesty has its rewards, he finds one thing he's unable to lie his way into: the heart of the woman he loves.
Columbus (Eisenberg) has always run from what scares him, and Tallahassee (Harrelson) has no fear. In a world overrun by zombies, they're perfect survivors. But now, they're forced to confront true terror: each other.
In Bodeen, Texas, an indie rock-loving misfit finds a way of dealing with her small-town misery after she discovers a roller derby league in nearby Austin.
TOP BOX OFFICE
Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs dominated the box office for the second weekend in a row with a $24.6 million take, only $6 million less than what it made during its debut weekend.
Despite Disney's high-concept marketing approach, Surrogates slipped into second place taking in $15 million on its opening weekend.
In third place, Fame managed only $10 million over the weekend. Despite its family appeal, it undoubtedly lost that crowd to its buzz-worthy animated competition.
FEATURED PREVIEW
Opening Oct 16, 2009
Directed By Spike Jonze
The adventures of a young boy named Max who, after being sent to bed for misbehaving, imagines that he sails away to where the wild things are. Max is loved by the wild creatures who make him their King, though he soon longs to be back home with his family. Directed by Spike Jonze, buzz has been building steadily for this adaption of a children's favorite.

A highly entertaining animated feature. Despite having a marketing campaign that really undersold me on the film, this movie turned out to be hilarious, as well as very good looking, working well as a 3D animated feature.
| |
A decent Sci-Fi romp that's seems a lot like the child of a lot of other better Sci-Fi movies. I think I, Robot and Minority Report are the 2 most obvious movies, but I got glimpses of Terminator, The Matrix, and even WALL-E, as well.
| |
The storyline was weak. The dancing and performing was good but I would have liked to see more of the characters.
| |
Bizarre account about rising corporate star, Mark Whitacre, who turns whistleblower against his employer, agribusiness giant ADM, for price fixing. Jazzy 60s game-show music underscores every scene into silly wackiness.
