I've noticed this on two separate macbook pros...An older one (4 yr old) running 10.8 and a newer one (1 yr) running 10.7.4. after installing nb 7.3 beta, and launching NB, the IDE seems to take a long time to initialize. The UI show the start page and then the "Opening Projects" progress status displays with an empty progress bar. The first time I saw this I force quit NB and relauched but the problem persisted. I shut down again and restarted again but still seemed to hang. I shut down again and just left it to run. About an hour later (not exact on this timing cuz I literally left it) it was up and running normally....I got home and tried it on my home machine and am experiencing similar behavior now...Don't think I saw anything like this on windows...
It's actually not just first launch. I see it everytime now. I think my previous success was because I inadvertanly launched 7.2. I never get to the point where I can capture a log or anything. It just hangs. :(
please attach a thread dump when the IDE hangs (eg. using VisualVM which ships with jdk or can be downloaded separately) and reopen the issue, closing as incomplete now
