Error reporting does not accept any keystroke from any field. If you hit a key, then you hear the "system beep".

quite strange

is that the only dialog in which you have the problem?

could you please try if the query dialog works for you? go to the services tab, expand issue trackers, select NetBeans, and choose Find Issues from it's context menu  ...

The build I am using is Product Version: NetBeans IDE 7.3 Beta (Build 201210011125). Shall I try a later one?

- i would expect that you run with the default look&feel. could you try out some different - e.g. metal (http://wiki.netbeans.org/FaqCustomLaf) 
- also please try to run with a different jdk is possible

also - could you please run a current dev build with the switch -J-Dbugtracking.suppressActionKeys=true and try to reproduce?
