Created attachment 120287 [details] Threaddump of hung IDE I have a persistant, if infrequent, problem with netbeans hanging on startup. The issue is quite random; I can go for several days with no problem but then netbeans will hang during in initial task scanning - progress bar fozen and no response from the ide. The ide than has to be forcibly closed - the hang will occur again on next startup. The only solution to the problem I have found, is to (very quickly during startup) select, right click and close one of the open projects - netbeans will then continue normally and I have no further problems for some days. I launched visualVM when this just happened and grabbed the attached threaddump:

Created attachment 120362 [details] Thread Dump from NB7.2Beta Looks like a similar issue with NB7.2 Beta. The attached threaddump blocked thread involving ireport classes.
Previous issues were with iReport plugin version 4.5.1. I have just downloaded and installed the latest version 4.6.0 (released 2012-05-21). I'll report any further issues in this thread. db

Same probleme. I had some jpg-images in the project folder. When I removed them the probleme disapered.
New iReport plugin appears to solve this problem when used with NB7.4. http://sourceforge.net/projects/ireport/files/iReport%20Plugin%20for%20NetBeans/iReport-5.5.0/ I marking this issue as resolved, fixed. db

I use from netbeans 8.02 on windows 7 for me netbeans hanging problem solved just with renaming "component" folder name of netbeans in following path ...AppData\Roaming\NetBeans\8.0.2\config\Windows2Local
