Ubuntu is coming with a new user interface named Unity, which includes a new application launcher. It is already the default in 10.10 for the NetBook edition, it will be the Ubuntu Default from 11.04. It would be nice if the IDE installer detected if Unity is installed and automatically added an icon to the launcher toolbar. It is pretty easy to do (a file must be created and another XML file must be changed), I described a manual configuration on my blog: http://weblogs.java.net/blog/fabriziogiudici/archive/2010/11/10/running-netbeans-ubuntu-unity-application-launcher
It would also be nice if we move the menu bar to the top of the screen, as is the unity convention. Can this be added?
Hello guys. Could you please fix this issue. Even though it is not issue having menus in application but while coding oneline of space is important. Lokking forward your fix soon. Thanks Abhijeet
Nowadays the "Lock to launcher" works and comments 1 and 2 are irrelevant and should be added as a standalone enhancement, the priority was decreased to P3. We will think about the possibility, that the icon was added to Unity launcher during the installation. Thanks for the useful link.
