Dear NetBeans developers, since my coworkers changed from eclipse to NetBeans they complain about the search result view. They are missing the tree-view of the files matching the search query as a file-hierarchy like in an explorer. This is the default search result view in eclipse and is often very helpful especially in bin projects with many files and orders. In this moment NetBeans only provide a list-view. With this feature I could agitate further coworkers to change to NetBeans. :-)
I'm glad to hear that the Search is the key feature to make a decision about using the NetBeans. :-) I agree, facilities of sorting and grouping in the search results view will be very useful for analyzing of the results. Could you please, clarify your sentence about the "bin projects". Do you mean only "huge" projects with complex structure of folders or also something else?
Sorry, I have just made a mistake. You are right. Of course I meant "huge projects".
As a recent switcher from Eclipse to Netbeans, this is also one the few things which I feel is inferior to Eclipse. I believe a toggle button in the search result window would do the trick if one do not want to clutter Options window. I would gladly help to implement this feature if somebody give me hints on how it should be done and where to start.
I hate to be the type of person who adds a me too, but this feature would be a real bonus to NetBeans. Having switched form Eclipse recently, I'm by and large very impressed with the difference. The inability to navigate search results via the same hierarchy as the source code, however is a big^H^H^H major dropoff. It may seem like an exaggeration, but I have found that it feels almost impossible to find anything in the search results. I'm currently looking at "Found 753 match(es) in 87 files" and the results are sorted alphabetically by file name. This is not useful, and I'm going to have to manually search through the search results to find what I actually want. I know roughly where I think the file is in the hierarchy, and it would be nice to walk down the hierarchy until I get to the correct file. I'm inclined to fire up Eclipse, simply to perform this search, although of course this is far from ideal.

Thanks! :) I'll look forwards to the release.
