Description rizsilverthorn 2008-08-28 13:26:00 UTC
I use a USB Aluminium Slimline Mac keyboard on my Ubuntu8.04 x64 system. The keys are configured correctly and work as
expected in all applications except NetBeans. If I press 9 on the numpad the cursor jumps up as if I have pressed
page-up and then enters a 9. The other keys act as if NB is receiving both the alternate mode and number keypress
simultaneously. This does not happen in any other application, including that "other" Java-based IDE.

Seems like the proper component is Editor|Key bindings.
Comment 2 Miloslav Metelka 2008-09-17 13:54:05 UTC
Could you please run

    $jdk_location/bin/java -jar $jdk_location/demo/jfc/Notepad/Notepad.jar

and try the same steps? Thanks.

This sounds like a duplicate of issue #72771 to me. Could you please try the java Notepad a suggested by mmetelka? Thanks
Comment 4 Petr Dvorak 2009-02-04 16:48:18 UTC
The other Java based IDE (Eclipse?) doesn't use JDK classes for an editor component. Therefore, the fact the issue is
not reproducible there doesn't help too much.

Without requested info (reproducibility in the Notepad sample), I have to mark this issue as INVALID. :o(

Please feel free to reopen the issue if it is still reproducible, providing the additional information.

Note: How to install and run notepad sample on Ubuntu?

# sudo apt-get install sun-java6-demo; java -jar /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/demo/jfc/Notepad/Notepad.jar

My apologies for not getting back to you on this. I got so used to using the numbers above the keyboard I forgot abut
opening the issue!

I am now using NetBeans 6.5 and Ubuntu 8.10 and the issue has gone away somewhere between the opening of the issue and
now. I also tried the java notebook app today and that is working as intended as well.

Those are great news for us, indeed! Thank you for the update.

If you experience some other issues with NB IDE, do not hesitate to file an issue or to write a mail directly to me.
