Storing this in a project metadata would be tricky since you can work with versioned files from within favorites view with no projects open. So the userdir is the only possible single storage for that information. On the other hand, importing excluded patterns from earlier versions does make sense, I will check IDE's behavior there. I do not consider this a P2 defect since you can (and should) check files being committed in the commit dialog and excluding files there fixes the problem. |
